Ο πολιτιστικός σύλλογος Φόδελε με ανακοίνωσή του γνωστοποιεί το κείμενο στο οποίο στηρίχθηκε ο αείμνηστος καθηγητής Παναγιωτάκης και στο οποίο αναφέρθηκε ο κος Χατζηνικολάου σε σχετική συνέντευξη. Ο σύλλογος αμφισβητεί ότι "το κείμενο “πιστοποιεί” πως ο μεγάλος ζωγράφος ήταν «natural de la ciudad de Candia», καταρρίπτοντας τα ‘’μυθεύματα περι Φόδελε’’ δεν φέρει τη υπογραφή του ζωγράφου" Όπως αναφέρει ο σύλλογος: Ο Manuel B. Cossio (ο σημαντικότερος ερευνητής του έργου του Θεοτοκόπουλου όπως γράφει στις 15.9.1989 ο κος Χατζηνικολάου στο πρόλογο του αφιερωμένου στο Cossio πρώτο τόμο «Δομήνικος Θεοτοκόπουλος Τεκμήρια για τη Ζωή και το Έργο του, στη σειρά «|Πηγές της Ιστορίας της Τέχνης» των Πανεπιστημιακών Εκδόσεων Κρήτης, που επιμελήθηκε ο ίδιος, τόμος στον οποίο συγκεντρώνονται οι κυριότερες μελέτες και άγνωστο αρχειακό υλικό για τη ζωή και το έργο του ζωγράφου) στο κείμενό του ‘’El Greco’’ που δημοσιεύθηκε στη Μαδρίτη το 1908, και ανατυπώθηκε στο παραπάνω τόμο των Πανεπιστημιακών Εκδόσεων Κρήτης (σελ. 146), στο πρωτότυπο, δηλ. στα Ισπανικά, γράφει: « Πρόκειται για την κατάθεση που δίδει ο ζωγράφος ενώπιον του Δικαστηρίου της Ιεράς Εξέτασης του Τολέδου, τον Μάϊο του 1582, ως διερμηνέας –μεταφραστής ενός συμπατριώτη του, κατηγορούμενου ως κρυπτοχριστιανού, στην οποία ο ζωγράφος λέγεται ‘’ natural de la ciudad de Candia’’. Το Κείμενο στα Ισπανικά είναι: «se trata de la declaracion que el pintor presta ante el Tribunal de la Inquisicion de Toledo, en el mes de Mayo se 1582, como interprete en la causa de un compatriota suyo, acusado de morisco; documento inedito, en que el mismo pintor se dice: natural de la ciudad de Candia». Ο Cossio αναφέρει, σε παραπομπή, ότι το παραπάνω κείμενο δεν φέρει την υπογραφή του ζωγράφου: «el proceso no tiene la firma del Greco». Αργότερα το 1986 ο Ν. Παναγιωτάκης, στο έργο του «Η Κρητική περίοδος της ζωής του Θεοτοκόπουλου» αναφέρεται στο παραπάνω κείμενο παραλείποντας το γεγονός ότι δεν φέρει την υπογραφή του ζωγράφου, σημειώνει απλά ότι ο ζωγράφος ήταν «γεννημένος στην πόλη της Κρήτης, (natural de la ciudad de Candia), δηλ. στο Χάνδακα, το σημερινό Ηράκλειο, την πρωτεύουσα πόλη της Κρήτης, που το όνομα της, στις Δυτικές πηγές, δήλωνε και ολόκληρο το νησί». Ωστόσο το natural είναι όρος ευρύτερος που δηλώνει τη καταγωγή, το μέρος από το οποίο προέρχεται κάποιος και δεν είναι ο όρος nacido που σημαίνει ‘’γεννημένος’’. Αφήνουμε στη κρίση σας τα «πλήρη αποδεικτικά στοιχεία» σύμφωνα με το δήμαρχο του Ηρακλείου κ. Κουράκη και τις «κωμικές συγκρούσεις» όπως ανέφερε ο κος Χατζηνικολάου σε σχετική συνέντευξη. Αναρωτιόμαστε όμως γιατί κανείς δε ανέφερε ποτέ αυτό που ο μεγάλος Ισπανός ερευνητής σημείωνε κάθε φορά που αναφερόταν στα παραπάνω. Ο μεγάλος μας ζωγράφος υπέγραφε πάντα ως ο Κρης, όχι ως Ηρακλειώτης, τα αδιάσειστα στοιχεία είναι ανυπόγραφα… Η επιμονή μας δεν είναι μια εμμονή που προέρχεται από τη πληγωμένη μας περηφάνια αλλά μια σταθερή προσήλωση στην ιστορική αλήθεια. Στοιχεία πραγματικά αδιάσειστα για το τόπο γέννησης του ζωγράφου δεν υπάρχουν. Υπάρχει όμως μια παράδοση ενός αιώνα και χιλιάδες επισκέπτες που έγιναν κοινωνοί αυτής της παράδοσης. Μια παράδοση που θα υπερασπιστούμε με τα μέσα που μας προσφέρει ο νόμος.» |
